Debashish Bhattacharjee, an Assam University professor, condemned the attack on the SFI activists, saying the incident had exposed the level of intolerance among the people of the saffron brigade.

He also expressed disappointment over the police crackdown on JNU students.

"It's not yet clear who had raised anti-India slogans. But the government had taken action against a few students in a whimsical manner without conducting a probe. A central university is an autonomous body. But the Centre did not bother to seek any report from the university authorities and took action arbitrarily," he added.http://www.telegraphindia.com/1160220/jsp/northeast/story_70247.jsp#.Vsi5LEDKrLM
