History repeats itself. And how, here are some visual.
Umar : "History repeats...of oppression and struggles alike. Today third year in a row, JNU students raised their voices against the judicial murder of Afzal Guru, and in all three years we saw the administrative authoratarianism and the hooliganism by sanghi lumpens. In an evening of cultural resistance called "A country without a post-office", attended by hundreds of students..we reaffirmed our solidarity with the right to self determination of the Kashmiri people. the permission for the programme was duely obtained from the JNU authorities, who however, just ten minutes before the programme was about to start, decided to withdraw it. Reason being pressure put by ABVP! But voices of resistance do not depend on technology and technicalities and the programme successfully continued till the end, without mike or light. The handful of ABVP lumpen kept barking from a safe distance. After the program when we took out a spontaneous march attended by all progressive and democratic organizations, the number of protesting students had swelled to more than five hundred and sanghis were hardly 15! But with the due support of JNU guards, they manhandled students and even physically attacked them, they tried all means to stop the march. But like a flow of a river students marched against the dictatorial JNU administration and its shameless collusion with the communal lumpens of ABVP. it is the same story as everywhere..be it JNU or HCU the ABVP-administration nexus is for everyone to see. But what is more important is that the voices of protest and resistance tides over these fascist diktats and champion our right to dissent, as well as our inalienable to right to speak out for justice and resist oppression everywhere. The JNU administration might intensify its attack to justify its utter authoratarianism in the days to come, but students of this campus has unitedly resisted each and every of such authoratarian moves in the past. History is a witness to this and once again the history of struggle will repeat. Oppression is your privilege, protest is our right!"
