Rohit's Action and the fallacy of Dalit cause. Dalits' in India won't have religious freedom. They were forced to be Hindu/Buddhist/Sikh ( Legally these religions are treated as offshoots of Hinduism.) At the cost of affirmative action, thus forcing many of the Dalits to hide their religious identity. Some of the members of Rohits family are Christians. If they unvail this they will lose financial benefits, legal protection. A case was filed in SC in 2004 with a plea to de-link religion with scheduled caste status. A commission appointed by GOI headed by Rtd.SC Judge recommend the same. GOI has not responded to the court's quary sofar. The Church itself is also taken over by the caste. Out of 168 odd Bishops in Catholic church with more than 70% from Dalit origin less than 15 are Dalit Bishops. These Dalit Christians were protesting every year at Jantarmantar ( this year it is due on 10 March ). The Catholic church leadership just ignores this and all the other denominations also following the same. These people approached many international agencies including UN, the US report on religious freedom referred it many times. When ever it was rised in UN, GOI denied it. The other dimension of this is Dalits and the castist society got accustomed to this and response to every atrocity is monitary compensation to the victim at the cost of justice without the vision of eradicating the menace. That is how this pest is continuing from the past 3000 years and even continuing in this modern day at the cost many dalit life's. The affirmative action given to Dalits is superficial and will never ever achieve the objective. The fallacies in the design of the policy ensures that these deprived sections never get empowered with the existing socio-institutional bias. The solution to this was proposed by Dr.Ambedkar in 1932 itself, but he was forced to subjugate and made to giveup the solution for reservations. He was aware of the complications of reservations but has a hope that the community elite will takeup the cause. But the community leadership also became the pawns in the hands of castist 'Hindu' hegemony as he predicted. The solution was 'separate electorate'. Rohit has a clear vision, he was evolving synergy as proposed by Ambedkar to challenge the hegemony. The forces branded him ' Antinational ' as he is serious in his discourse. The hegemony never percepted any threat to Dalit oriented movements as ' they ' can be managed, but Dalits associating themselves beyond religions is a real threat, so they branded him ' Anti-National '. He saw the confusion among ASA/SFI etc leadership which resulted in non-cooparation to his ideological cause. He took this as a challenge and imagined that his death may help to evolve the energy to address the issue of discrimination. The energy evoked by his death is not being synergized but being diverted to a petty cause of an enactment. We have enough proof that these enactments won't help. POact failed to protect, SCP/ScSp failed to empower financially and many constitutional provision fail to address the issue, then how can the proposed enactment protect ' Rohit's ' from this centuries old discrimination other than separate electorate ?
