President Obama in 2011 SOTU speech to Republican Congress, "I’m asking Congress to eliminate the billions in taxpayer dollars we currently give to oil companies … Instead of subsidizing yesterday’s energy, let’s invest in tomorrow’s." Well, the Republican Congress did not phase out those MASSIVE subsidies for fossil fuels. And they never will. But in spite of Republican resistance, we're making progress getting reliable, affordable, Electric Vehicles to consumers. If Democrats win Congress in 2016, those oil subsidies will be eliminated, and EVs may become the preferred consumer choice sooner than we think. What Obama Got Right About Electric Vehicles
