Vidya Bhushan Rawat

It was a 125 days journey that started from Dibrugarh in Assam and covered the entire country to commemorate Baba Saheb Ambedkar's 125 birth year. #Bheemyatra today culminated in Delhi at the Ambedkar Bhavan where all the yatris shared their experiences and listening to them were many among us who expressed their solidarity to the cause to completely eliminate manual scavenging and honorably rehabilitate them. It was a h
istoric event as people of diverse background, from diffeent states and languages joined together in their effort to raise awareness of the nation against the criminal silence of all of us. Yes, India need #azadifrom untouchability and manual scavenging. It is shameful that it still exists in India and hundreds of people are dying every year inside the sewage system without any honorable rehabilitation to their families.
We stand in Solidarity with #safaikarmchariandolan and all the communities engaged in #manualscavenging that they must be rehabilited honorably and that every killing inside the sewage must be declared as national shame. India will remain a hypocratic society as long as manual scavenging exists and there is death in these holes. We hope government of India will focus on eradication of this criminal practice of untouchability against those who have cleaned our cities.Sharing some of these photographs that i clicked during the welcome ceremony in Delhi organsed at Ambedkar Bhavan, Rani Jhansi Marg. I dont know many names who participated in yatra for 125 days. These girls and boys must be applauded for this journey. I know every yatra is a big lesson for us and hope these youngsters and elders who travelled will have a lot to share. Most importantly, the nation must acknowledge that there is a grave civilisatonal crisis and remove this immediately. The government must do what it is expected to and the society must step in so that we all can get @#azadi from the caste discrimination and manual scavenging.
