MEETING SONI SORI

MEETING SONI SORI
She held center stage while we all sat around
Soaking up her every word in that church compound
We must have been about sixty, who got the call
But all knew her story and what she stood for after all
She spoke with sincerity, without anger or shame
Not really aware that the whole world knows her name
Her humble frame we knew was made of the finest steel
That would not break or bend or lose any of its zeal
A body that bled for others a heart that could really feel
A set of lofty principles that no government could steal
For the fleeting second I held her hand, I felt divine
No words were needed as her heart spoke to mine
I left her in the home of a friend, knowing I was blest
Realizing that fleeting moment was one of the best
