"I identified my son from a picture released by the ISIS...I was stunned ...," Mr Khan said, adding that Rohan had left home in December last, never to be seen again till the deadly siege at the Dhaka café, where terrorists took dozens of diners hostage and then brutally killed 20 of them after separating foreigners.
Among them was Tarishi Jain, 18, a student at UC Berkley in the US, who was visiting her father in Dhaka. She was given last rites in Gurgaon yesterday.
"What you witnessed in Bangladesh ... was a glimpse. This will repeat, repeat and repeat until you lose and we win and the sharia is established throughout the world," said a man identified as Bangladeshi fighter Abu Issa al-Bengali, in the video monitored by SITE intelligence site.
It was one of the deadliest attacks in Bangladesh, where Islamic State and al Qaeda have claimed a series of killings of liberals and members of religious minorities in the past year. The government has also dismissed those claims.
The IS video began with pictures of recent attacks in Paris, Brussels and Orlando in the United States that the Middle East-based militants have claimed.
The fighter in the video, who spoke in both Bengali and English, said Bangladesh must know that it was now part of a bigger battlefield to establish the cross-border "caliphate" the group proclaimed in 2014.
"I want to tell the rulers of Bangladesh that the jihad you see today is not the same that you knew in the past," he said from a busy street in the militant group's de facto capital of Raqqa, in Syria. "The jihad that is waged today is a jihad under the shade of the Caliphate."
Though Bangladesh has rejected the IS claim of responsibility for Friday's attack, police said they were stepping up security in response to the video threat.
"We are taking this issue seriously. All our concerned units are working tirelessly," said deputy police inspector general Shahidur Rahman.
Police believe the domestic Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, which has pledged allegiance to Islamic State, played a significant role in organizing the band of privileged, educated young men who carried out the attack.
Police have said they are hunting for six members of the group suspected to have helped the attackers. But foreign security experts say the scale and sophistication of the attack on the Holey Artisan bakery cafe pointed to some level of guidance from international militant groups.
Officials in Dhaka said on Tuesday police commandos had mistakenly shot dead a restaurant chef during the operation to end the siege.
H.T. Imam, a political adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also said security officials had seen online warnings about an impending attack on Friday and ordered major hotels and restaurants in the neighborhood of the cafe shut. But they missed the actual target, he said.

গুলশানে ভয়াবহ জঙ্গি হামলার ফের বাংলাদেশে হামলার হুমকি দিয়েছে মধ্যপ্রাচ্যভিত্তিক বৈশ্বিক জঙ্গি সংগঠন আইএস। ভিডিওতে গুলশান হামলার প্রশংসা করে বক্তব্য দেওয়া একজন বাংলাদেশি ক্লোজ আপ ওয়ান তারকা ছিলেন।
জানা যায়, রিয়েলিটি শো ক্লোজ আপ ওয়ানের প্রথম বছরের প্রতিযোগিতা ২০০৮ সালে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। ওই বছর তাহমিদ রহমান শাফি নামের এক তরুণ শীর্ষ বাছাইয়ে ছিলেন। ২০০৮ সালের ১৯ আগস্ট প্রকাশিত তার গাওয়া সোলসের জনপ্রিয় ‘মন শুধু মন ছুয়েছে’ গানটির ভিডিও এখন ফেসবুকে ঘুরছে।
শাফির বন্ধুদের বরাতে জানা যায়, তার বাবা সাবেক নির্বাচন কমিশনার সফিউর রহমান । ইত্তেফাক লিখেছে, তিনি ছিলেন আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা ও ৯৬ সালের জনতার মঞ্চের নেতা। সেই সময় প্রখ্যাত সরকারী কর্তা, সচিব ডঃ মহিউদ্দিন খান আলমগীর ( পরে স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রীও ছিলেন ) সফিউর রহমানকে নিয়ে গড়ে তোলেন বিএনপি সরকার বিরোধী 'জনতার মঞ্চ' । আওয়ামী লীগপন্থি সরকারী কর্তাদের এই ' জনতার মঞ্চই' মূলত ১৯৯১-৯৬ সালের বিএনপি সরকারের পতন তরান্বিত করে। পুরস্কারস্বরূপ আওয়ামীলীগ সরকারের শেষ দিকে তাকে নিয়োগ দেয়া হয়। বিএনপি আমলে তিনি দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। কারন নির্বাচন কমিশনার সাংবিধানিক পদ । সরকার বদল হলেও কমিশনাররা থাকেন। ফলে সফিউর রহমান ২০০১-২০০৬ সাল পর্যন্ত নির্বাচন কমিশনারের দায়িত্ব পালন করেন । ২০১৪ সালে তিনি মারা গেছেন।
