Order Judicial Enquiry on Mathura Development

Order Judicial Enquiry on Mathura Development

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its serious concern over the developments in Mathura that have so far led to the death of at least 24 people. The dead include two senior police officers and 22 people claiming to be militants of the Swadhin Bharat Subash Sena (SBSS). This SBSS claims to have over 2000 armed militants supposed adherents and true followers of Netaji Subas Chandra Bose.

The SBSS settled at Mathura Jawahar Bagh in 2014 piling up arms, ammunition, crude bombs preparing for a battle. It is indeed inexplicable that for two years this was happening at a place in close proximity to the office of the district administration and barely two kms away from the Mathura Cantonment.

This clearly is a very serious lapse on the part of the central and state intelligence organisations. It is equally perplexing that this police action that led to these deaths was a consequence of a directive by the judiciary and not on the basis of any information or intelligence of our security apparatus.

All these aspects need to be probed and those guilty of such anarchy must be punished. It also needs to be probed whether the general atmosphere of intolerance being spread in the country under the patronage of the BJP central government ignored and overlooked by the state government has a role to play in buttressing the growth of such armed lumpen anarchy. The spread of this is indeed alarming.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that a high powered judicial enquiry must be constituted immediately to probe into all these aspects, identify and punish the guilty. It would be preferable if a sitting judge of the Supreme Court be entrusted this task with a defined time frame.
