Birsa Munda's chains are being removed to give the impression that tribals are free today, but the state's actions are meant to crush Munda’s ideals. Munda wanted the forest land, the rivers, hills to remain for people and for creatures of the earth – bears, tigers, lions, insects. But the proposed changes in tenancy laws are meant to make this land freely available through so-called single window clearances at digital speeds for India’s Adanis and Ambanis.¬

Two major regional parties will support an economic blockade across the state on June 11 and 12 to protest against the government’s anti-tribal policies.
